Ealing Youth and Connexions

 

What we do?
The service provides programmes of group and individual activities, which encourage personal and social development of young people 13-19 years old (up to 24 years old for young people with disabilities). These programmes are provided through youth centres and projects located across the borough. Many of the activities are nationally accredited.

 

Youth and Connexions offers a variety of fun and positive experiences for young people 13 - 19 years through:

Young people, supported by youth workers have the chance to:

  • Develop their skills
  • Increase their knowledge

Youth work develops young people's:

  • Self confidence
    Self esteem

Youth work helps young people grow into responsible adults through exciting and challenging projects.

 

Youth work is different from most other approaches to work with young people in that it starts with the young person's interests and abilities and works to develop them through a wide range of programmes.

 

The youth work curriculum covers a range of themes:

  • Health
  • Community safety
  • Environment/outdoor education
  • Creative and expressive arts
  • Employment and training
  • Community cohesion
  • Personal development
    eg communication, problem
    solving skills

Connexions

Connexions is a support service for all young people aged 13 to 19 in England. It also provides support up to the age of 24 for some young people who have learning difficulties or disabilities. Connexions provides information, advice, guidance, support and access to personal development opportunities for young people through multi-agency working and a network of Personal Advisers. It aims to remove barriers to learning and progression, and ensure young people make a smooth transition to adulthood and working life. Connexions PAs are based in schools and colleges and are also available at:
