Pencil into your diary

Whether you just want to chill out, meet new people or get some advice, there are many things you can do in Ealing. Specifically for looked after young people and care leavers, the Horizons Education and Achievement Centre is a great place to go. Ealing also knows that young people in care, and those who have left, have so much to be proud of, which is why we organise an ‘Outerlimits Day’ and an Education Award Ceremony each year.

ME (My Education)

The ME mentors organise a number of workshops and trips for young people in Ealing. By attending these workshops and trips you can build up your portfolio and confidence as well as improving your skills and knowledge related to education, employment and training.

Future projects will involve credited work experience with a radio station and variety of work placement trips visiting the army and television studios. This is also your chance to try something new such as coming to the dance and DJ workshops.

‘Speed dating’ sessions are also organised where you can ask questions of various members of The Looked After Children team including social workers, housing and those working in education. For information about the project please contact Horizons on (020) 8537 4940.

Outerlimits Day

Both care leavers and young people in care, have loads to be proud of. Which is why every year Ealing hosts ‘Outer-Limits’ day. The idea was started off by young people themselves, and every year it just gets better and better. Not only is this day a great opportunity to meet with other young people and celebrate your achievements, but the day is also packed with loads of really fun things to do, the occasional celebrity and great food!

Education Awards

Like Outerlimits Day, Ealing hosts the Education Awards to recognise your achievements.  We are just as proud as you are when you work hard at your education, training, or employment. Whatever year you are in, the effort you make should be celebrated, and that is exactly what this evening is about. It is also a chance to meet other young people and see the types of things that other people have done in their education.
